Lenten Bible Study on the Servant Songs
The servant songs (also called the servant poems or the Songs of the Suffering Servant) are four songs in the Book of Isaiah in the Hebrew Bible. The songs are four poems written about a certain “servant of YHWH” (Hebrew: עבד יהוה, ‘eḇeḏ Yahweh). Yahweh calls the servant to lead the nations, but the servant is horribly abused by them. In the end, he is rewarded.
We will look at these stories and consider what they mean for our Christian understanding of Jesus and his story.
Please join us on Wednesday evenings in Lent beginning on 12 March at 19h (7:00 p.m.). It will continue on: 19, 26 March, and 2, 9 April.
